## We would like to welcome Nottinghamshire Scouting and Girlguiding groups to the Materials Recovery Facility in Mansfield.

A Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is where recyclable materials that are collected from households are sorted into different types (e.g. plastics, cardboard, paper, metal) using a mixture of manual and automated methods. When the materials have been sorted they are sent to reprocessors and manufacturers where they are used to create new products.

 Children over the age of 7 are able to come and visit the facility and take part in a range of activities and a tour of the facility.

Cubs, Brownies, Guides and Scouts visiting the MRF often find the visit is helpful in completing part of their Environment or Community Badges as they learn what can and can’t be recycled and how they can play their part in the recycling process.

We had such an interesting and informative visit. Everyone in Nottinghamshire should be encouraged to visit and see what happens to their recycling rubbish and learn more about what not to put in your \[recycling\] bin

Our host was very welcoming and pitched the visit at just the right level for Cubs and leaders alike. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, the PPE equipment and headphones supplied gave added excitement for the kids. As a District Leader I will be recommending that more Mansfield groups make use of this fantastic opportunity to learn more about what Veolia do to help Nottinghamshire achieve it's recycling targets.
