Notts Recycles Go Green Challenge-Day 24

Are you a squeaky clean recycler?

Day 24 Challenge

Today’s challenge focusses on the bathroom and the recycling to be done there.

Recyclable items from the bathroom can often get missed as there might only be one bin in the smallest room in the home.

If you have the space could you add another small bin to collect these items? Or how about a bag on a hook on the back of the door so that these easily recyclable items don’t go to waste?

Have a look in your bathroom today and count how many items have recyclable packaging.

Have you got the following items:

  • Shampoo or conditioner bottles
  • Shower gel or bubble bath bottles
  • Toilet roll inner tubes
  • Cardboard tissue boxes
  • Contact lens solution bottles
  • Hand wash dispensers
  • Cleaning spray bottles
  • Toilet cleaner/bleach bottles
  • Deodorant, anti-perspirant aerosol cans
  • Hairspray cans
  • Air freshener cans

Lids, trigger sprays and pump action spray nozzles should be discarded in the general waste but everything else can be easily recycled.

You might not think it would make much difference, but if everyone in the UK recycled one bathroom cleaner bottle, enough energy could be saved to vacuum around 82,460 homes!
