Did you know every year in the UK 12 million Christmas jumpers are purchased and 1 in 3 under 35 year olds are buying a new Christmas jumper each year? Help us change this over the festive period by joining us in a Christmas Jumper Swap!
We have teamed up with Inspire again this year to have a Jumper Swap at the Kirkby-in-Ashfield Library Christmas Market on 21 November, Worksop Library Christmas Market on 28 November and West Bridgford Library Christmas Market on 5 December. You can participate by donating and swapping jumpers as well as learn about how to reduce your textile and other waste this Christmas.
How does it work?
Nottinghamshire residents can donate their pre-loved Christmas jumpers at one of seven drop off points at any of the venues below between 2 November and 29 November:
- Bingham Library
- Newark Library
- Mansfield Central Library
- Arnold Library
- Beeston Library
- Worksop Library
- Hucknall Library
All jumpers donated must be of good quality, wearable and clean. Look out for our donation boxes at these venues!
Residents wishing to swap their pre-loved Christmas jumper for another can come along to either:
- Kirkby-in-Ashfield Library Christmas Market on 21 November 10am - 1pm
- Worksop Library Christmas Market on 28 November 9:30am - 2:30pm
- West Bridgford Library Christmas Market on 5 December 10am - 2pm
We will have all of the jumpers we collected on clothes rails for people to choose from for free, but we cannot guarantee all sizes will be available due to the swapping nature of the events.
Any jumpers left over after the two events will be donated to local shelters, organisations and charities.
However, it’s not only Christmas when clothing is thrown away. In Nottinghamshire, over 70 tonnes of reusable clothes are thrown away each week.
