Notts Recycles Go Green Challenge-Day 28

Are you a smashing recycler?

Day 28 Challenge

Today's challenge is to make sure you're recycling your glass bottles and jars in the right place!

Recycling your glass bottles and jars is a simple but amazing thing to do to help fight climate change.

The same glass bottle can be recycled an infinite number of times without losing ANY quality and uses far less energy than making a new bottle.

However, you should NEVER put glass in your wheeled recycling bin at home. Here's why:

  • In the back of a refuse truck, glass will get crushed and can make the paper and card unrecyclable.
  • At the Materials Recovery Facility in Mansfield, broken glass can pose a risk to the people sorting the recyclables and can damage the machinery and conveyor belts.

If you don’t have a separate kerbside glass collection, please take your empties to a bottle bank when you’re next out shopping and make sure that your household know where to put empty glass bottles and jars at home.
