Zero Waste Week kicks off tomorrow (6 Sep) so today’s challenge is to act on reducing the amount of food you waste.

Food waste can make up as much as a third of the contents of a general waste bin, some of which could be avoided. A great way to reduce your household’s food waste is to plan some meals for the week ahead and shop only for what you will need.

Food shopping without a list and with a hungry tummy can result in some impulse buying of products that could end up being wasted because you didn’t get round to using it before the use by date.

If you can’t plan for every meal next week, why not try starting with just two meals and see how it goes. Planning meals will not only reduce the amount of food waste you produce - but may even save you some money too!
