Recycle right this January to support Nottingham-based charity
▁▁▁
> Each time residents use the free Recycling Checker in January 2026, Veolia, Nottinghamshire County Council’s recycling and waste partner, will donate 10p to local charity Pulp Friction.
▁▁▁
This New Year, Veolia and Nottinghamshire County Council are encouraging residents to learn more about what can be recycled at home whilst supporting a local charity. Throughout January, Veolia will donate up to £1000 by giving 10p to the charity Pulp Friction every time a search is carried out using the free Recycling Checker tool.
Pulp Friction is the Madam Chairman's chosen charity for 2026. This local charity provides learning disabled and autistic individuals with opportunities to develop confidence, skills and experience to secure employment. With Veolia’s commitment of up to £1,000, Nottinghamshire residents can recycle right and help to empower learning disabled and autistic people across the county.
To participate, residents should download the free MyNotts app or visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website to use the Recycling Checker before disposing of items at home: www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/recyclingchecker
Whilst raising money for charity, this campaign also aims to improve recycling rates in the county. In Nottinghamshire the following materials are accepted in your household recycling, items just need to be empty, clean, dry and loose:
- Clean paper and card
- Empty food tins, drinks cans and aerosols without the lid
- Empty plastic bottles (keep drink bottle lids on but remove pumps and sprays)
- Empty margarine tubs and yoghurt pots
Councillor Jan Goold, Madam Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council said: “When it comes to reducing our waste, reusing where possible and recycling, we all have a part to play. This January, join me in using the Recycling Checker before you dispose, and in return Veolia will donate 10p each time you do a search to my chosen charity for the year, Pulp Friction.”
Steve Newman, General Manager for Veolia Nottinghamshire said: “We’re encouraging all Nottinghamshire residents to learn something new on the recycling checker tool this new year. By recycling right this January, residents can support a worthy local charity whilst contributing to a more environmentally sustainable Nottinghamshire.”
Residents can download the free MyNotts app, available from the App Store and Google Play Store, or visit www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/recyclingchecker
